Copyright

All photographs and texts published on hartmann.art are works by Dr. Jens Hartmann and are protected by German copyright law. All rights reserved. Any use beyond private, non-public viewing on this website requires explicit written consent.

Credit

The required credit line for every authorised use is “Jens Hartmann — hartmann.art”. The credit must appear adjacent to the image; placement in an unrelated colophon or general credit list is not sufficient.

Editions and the physical work

Selected photographs are released as signed fine art editions, printed as archival pigment prints on Hahnemühle fine art paper. Each edition is limited; size, paper and edition number are agreed individually. Every print is signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that records the edition, the recording year and the paper.

Acquiring an edition transfers the physical object. It does not transfer copyright, reproduction rights or any other usage rights in the image. The work may be exhibited privately in the collector's own spaces; any further use — publication, reproduction, loan to exhibitions — requires separate written permission.

What is not permitted

• Reproducing, editing, distributing, broadcasting or publicly displaying the photographs — in print or digitally, in whole or in part — without prior written consent.
• Using the images on social media, websites, blogs, in presentations, editorial or advertising contexts without a written licence — even with a credit line.
• Training, fine-tuning, indexing, embedding or any other machine processing of the images by generative or model-building systems, including large language and image models. No such use is granted, expressly or by implication. This explicit reservation is made under the meaning of § 44b (3) UrhG (TDM opt-out).
• Removing or altering signatures, watermarks, IPTC/XMP metadata or copyright information.
• Cropping, recolouring, retouching or otherwise modifying a work in any context, including under an editorial licence, without separate written permission.

Galleries, exhibitions, museums

Loans for exhibitions, museum acquisitions and gallery representation are arranged directly. Conditions of display — framing, lighting, edition handling, insurance value — are agreed in writing in advance. Press images for an agreed exhibition are provided on request, with a defined use, territory and credit.

Editorial, book and commercial licences

Licences for editorial features, monographs, catalogues, exhibition publications and commercial uses are granted case by case. Scope (medium, reach, duration, territory), fee, credit, proof copy and any constraints on cropping or treatment are agreed in writing in advance.

Enquiry

A short message is enough. For collectors: please name the work, the format you have in mind and the room or context. For editorial and licensing: please name the intended use, the medium, the territory and the period.
